Boycotting Restaurants

Day Seven
The experiment has come to an end! Today was the last day of no restaurants. It's a relief and if tomorrow wasn't Thanksgiving, I'd be getting myself something to eat that didn't come out of my own fridge. This test made me realize how often I really do eat out during the course of a week. I can't believe how much money I've been spending on something that only lasts for about an hour. I think the experiment also is going to have an influence on my choices of food from now on. It'll be a change, but a good one :) It was fun, but I am so happy this week is over! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Day Six
Tomorrow is the last day of the experiment and I couldn't be more happier. I'd like to say it was easy to go a whole week without eating out but I don't think that would be the truth haha.. It's kind of sad really. This whole thing makes me realize how much our society has changed over time. I remember when I was little and going out to eat was a once-in-a-while kind of thing for special occasions and such. I'd like to know what other people's lifestyles are like!
Day Five
The weekend went surprisingly well. I didn't have any temptations that were strong enough to cave. I thought my whole weekend would be a disaster because I wasn't going to be home but it wasn't! I ate at home on Friday and was invited to a friend's family gathering yesterday which obviously didn't involve eating out. And today, I worked all day so there was no way I could have gone to a restaurant or anything. I'm kind of proud that my experiment is still going strong. I really believed the weekend would screw everything up.

Day Three
Yesterday was interesting. I had school until 9pm and right after that, I went out with my friends to see the breaking dawn part 2 midnight premier. The movie was amazing by the way, but being gone almost all day, you would think I'd have to get something to eat, right? I guess I found time to eat when I was home for such a short time. I was only home for 20 minutes between school and the movie. Good thing my mom insisted on eating something. If she hadn't made me anything to eat, I probably would have cheated. As for today, I'm standing my ground. I'm going to eat at home and I'm not going to let anyone change that. It's ridiculous how many times I have an opportunity to spend my money on food. It shouldn't be this hard to get through one week!

Day One
Hey readers! Today was the first day of my experiment. There's not much to say because, with everything, the beginning is always the easiest. One thing did happen today! I went to see a play that was mandatory for another class and my friend that I was taking with me wanted to get something to eat before it. I told him I couldn't because of this experiment so we just ate at home and then went to the play. I was kind of pissed to be honest, it would have been fun. Oh well! I think once the weekend starts, there will be more temptations and opportunities that will pressure me to cheat. Since I have plans all weekend, I'm sure someone will want to get something to eat "real quick" or get together somewhere for dinner. I'll do my best to stay strong and keep up with the experiment. I really don't want to fail at this. It would be really disappointing.

Introduction
Hi, my name is Emily Barg. I've decided to go a whole week without eating out at any restaurants or fast food places. I think it'll be hard for me because I'm not home during the day for 5 days out of the week. Whether I'm at work, or at school, I tend to eat out at least 2 or 3 times a week, as a minimum. If my mom doesn't want to cook dinner one night, we go and get something real quick. If we have nothing to eat in the house, and I have somewhere to be and only have a little bi of time to eat, I'll just go through drive through somewhere. It's easy, quick, and most of the time, convenient.
During this week, I'm basically going to boycott all restaurants, including fast food. I think it's the one thing that really pertains to my habits as a student and a part-time worker. It might be a little dramatic, but I think I rely on these things. It's a time to bond with my friends and family and a time to enjoy tasty food that I wouldn't want to make myself.
I hope to learn how much I really do turn to restaurants and fast foods as a food source. Can I do a whole week without even a temptation or question? Will my friends and family have an affect on whether or not I decide to get something on the go? I also want to know how much other people eat out. Am I the only one who spends a majority of their money at restaurants? And what things contribute to the decisions we make for lunch and dinner? Is eating out a necessity when you spend more time out and about than you do at home?
I think the one thing that will be a huge difficulty is the influences that my friends and family have. Every time I am out with my friends, we always get something to eat. It's easy and everyone can get what they want. It's a great time to talk and when there's nothing to do, it's a nice time filler. We don't have to cook anything and it's easy to decide on where to go instead of what we would all agree on eating.
